Services

Editing and proofreading for writers, educators, and brands in English and Spanish.

Not sure what you need?

No worries! Here's an overview of the editing services I offer. You're also welcome to request a free sample edit anytime, so we can see if we're a good fit before you commit. Just have a completed draft of your piece ready when you reach out.

Copyediting

This is where I clean up grammar, spelling, and consistency line by line. I also check for clarity and readability, plus basic fact-checking on things like names, dates, and figures. Think of it as polishing the piece sentence by sentence, so nothing distracts from what you're trying to say.

Starting at $5.75 per page

(not to exceed 250 words a page)

Proofreading

This is the final check. It's a last read-through to catch any leftover typos, formatting slips, or layout issues after everything else has been edited. It's not the same as copyediting (which fixes grammar and consistency) — by this point, that work should already be done. Think of it as the last pair of eyes making sure nothing small slipped through the cracks.

Starting at $4 per page

(not to exceed 250 words a page)

Translation

In addition to my editing services, I offer translation between Mexican Spanish and US English (and vice versa).

Please note: I do not offer certified translations.

$20 per page

(not to exceed 250 words a page)

"Denisse is a professional who makes it easy to communicate with her. Furthermore, because she speaks more than one language, she has a deep understanding of how to convey ideas effectively and elegantly, which enriched my text."

Additional Notes

All rates are quoted in US dollars, and pricing may vary depending on the type of content (educational, marketing, fiction, nonfiction, etc.) and the level of editing required.

Every project starts with a consultation. Because no two projects are alike, we'll talk through what you need — copyediting, proofreading, or translation — so I can scope the work accurately. I'll ask for a sample of your piece upfront; this lets me give you an accurate fee and realistic turnaround time rather than a guess.

Once we've agreed on scope and price, I'll send a contract outlining the details of the project. This must be signed before any work begins.

A 25% deposit is due upon signing the contract, and secures your spot on my schedule. A 25% is due once I get started on the project. The remaining 50% is due once the completed work is delivered to you.

Payment is accepted through PayPal or ACH transfer.

All client materials and communications are kept strictly confidential.

I don't work with graphic material or horror stories.

FAQ

What types of editing do you offer?

Copyediting & Proofreading

Should I book copyedit or proofreading?

It depends on where you are in the process.

Choose copyediting if:

  • You're happy with the content, but grammar slips or small inconsistencies remain.
  • You've revised it over time and keep spotting things that don't match up.

Choose proofreading if:

  • It's already been edited once.
  • You're working from a near-final draft.
  • You want a lighter, more affordable final check.

Copyediting is more thorough, catching anything that could confuse or distract your reader. Proofreading is lighter, focused on grammar, spelling, and punctuation, plus a few consistency catches (like a misspelled name). That's why it works best on content that already had a deeper edit.

What tools do you use for editing?

I use Microsoft Word Track Changes & Comments. I can also use Google Docs.

How long will it take, and how much will it cost?

Honestly? It depends.

Every project is shaped by the length of your piece, your deadline, how technical or specialized the language is, and whether it shifts between English and Spanish. Also, whether you need a copyedit — tightening grammar, and style — or a proofread to catch what's left before publishing.

Consider your audience, and whether the piece has to match a particular style guide, whether that's a brand's, a publication's, or one you've set for yourself.
